Wharf Wraps

I have been meaning to share with you the best spot for fish and chips on the planet. Yes, I said "on the planet" because, seriously, it is. Wharf Wraps is another restaurant in Fisherman's Cove in Eastern Passage Nova Scotia. And it is totally worth the trip. Luckily for me it's just a 2 minute drive! While waiting to be seated we heard someone say that it was the best place for fish and chips so we had to try it out. I don't even particularly like fish and chips but this is to die for. I have guest coming for both the Canadian and the American Thanksgiving and you can rest assured there will be fish and chips consumed on both occasions.

The fish is huge. It's a 10 oz haddock fillet! And the breading is so tasty. I took some of mine home because there was no way I could finish the whole thing and it was even delicious the next day warmed in the oven. It wasn't greasy but it was nice and moist. You have the option of homemade tartar sauce or the Kraft packet. I like a place that attempts to make their own tartar sauce, shows a bit of passion for making good food. The decor is ketchy but not as overkill as Boondocks. I can see myself in snuggled in there during the cold winter months with a cup of chowder. That will be the true test, how is their chowder. I'll let you know when I find out.

I wouldn't be so high on Wharf Wraps. A friend recently had less than stellar service so wrote them a polite email to complain about her experience. She promptly received a reply stating, and I quote, "Go F... Yourself". And shortly after another stating "If you think you can find better fish than mine, good luck you whiny bitch". The fish may be good, but it'll never pass my lips! What Jerks....

  2. Interesting. I hope others share their experience. The service has never been stellar but the food made up for it. Definatly something to watch. On the other hand, a coworker went to Boondocks over the holidays and was thrilled with the food and experience. Hmmm, the competition continues. Thanks for the info!

  3. Tonight I had my worst customer service experience in my life EVER at Wharf Wraps. We arrived at 8:25unaware that they closed at 9:00. We were seated and order taken which arrived at 8:45. It was at this point when they started sweeping and mopping that we thought.... hhhhhmmmmm maybe they are closing. The ambiance was truly enhanced when they actually started vaccuuming...we couldn't even have a conversation!!!! We told our waitress that we felt unwelcome and rushed and that if they had told us that they would be soon closing we would have gone elsewhere. We asked to speak to the manager and she REFUSED to speak to us, but we overheard her say..."well, what do they expect we are closed". When I insisted to speak with the manager our poor waitress was almost in tears that we were making her go back to get her and said if I do I am not responsible for what happens!! Professional as they are, the manager sent the chef this time who told us we should have told someone to turn off the vaccuum and that no one was rushing us. There was not one ounce of empathy and not even a feigned apology. On the way out the door when we again voiced our displeasure, we were told, among other nasty things, that they didn't need customers like us because the other 300 customers they had that day had no complaints. As the door was closing behind me I heard them saying..."just a bunch of idiots". I had heard that the food had gone downhill, clearly their service has as well!
